Dentsply Australia has officially opened its new purpose-built head office and warehouse facilities in the prestigious Axcess Business Park in Mt Waverley, Victoria.
Over 100 people attended an opening event with Jim Mosch, Senior Vice President, Dentsply International and Dennis O'Keeffe, Vice President and General Manager, Dentsply Australia, officiating over the ribbon cutting. Dr David Curnow, President of the ADA Victorian Branch and Ian Crawford, President of the Australian Dental Industry Association Victorian Branch, were two of the many familiar faces who were present, as well as Dentsply's Australian and International staff.
Whilst the company had moved into the new headquarters in March (ADP Mar/Apr 2003), the event marked the official opening. A great evening was had by all and guests were wined and dined well into the night.
"The new premises will help us to continue to meet the expectations of the dental community in Australia," said marketing manager, Phillip Gaff. "In particular, we now have the facilities to provide a high standard of training on-site to our staff and dental professionals."
Mr Gaff said that the increased size of the new facility would allow Dentsply Australia to introduce more of Dentsply's product range not currently available here.
"We are now also starting to increase the range of products for dental laboratories since Dentsply acquired Degussa (now Degudent). We now have the physical warehouse space to accommodate the products, as well as a new purpose-built training area which we believe is key to this new area of business for us."
Mr Gaff said that Dentsply Australia now has an endodontist and seven laboratory technicians on staff to facilitate better training and liaison with the dental community.
Warehousing is a large component of the facility and includes secure storage for the pharmaceutical products, a flame room for flammable item storage, cold storage and room for expansion.
A fully equipped dental surgery with planned audio-visual link to a larger training room is another feature, plus a state of the art dental laboratory incorporating, for the first time in Australia, Strohm & Maier European-designed lab work stations; a fully functional Cercon & Cergo pressable system unique to Australia and a large range of Degudent and Harnisch & Rieth equipment.
