New look for popular dental websites

Two of Australia's most popular websites for the dental profession have been undergoing major updates throughout 2020 and into the first quarter of 2021, with both www.dentalcommunity.com.au and www.dentevents.com being given a fresh new look and added functionality.

"The demand for online services jumped during the COVID-19 lockdown and we've updated our websites in response to the changing times," said Mr Joseph Allbeury, publisher of these websites as well as Australasian Dental Practice.

"Apart from updating the overall look of Dentevents.com, we added a lot of new functionality to support organisers of LIVE webinars. And now, with the return to face-to-face learning, we're adding more features to help organisers ticket, market and manage their events. One neat new feature is the ability to search for a venue to host a dental event. We have several hundred venues in the database, so you can now find a venue that has previously hosted a dental event, which is particularly ideal if you're looking for a space outside the capital cities.

"Dentevents.com is a turnkey solution for anyone looking to organise a dental event, whether face-to-face or online and we're continually adding new features based on user demand," Mr Allbeury said.

Responsive design

The Dental Community website home page has now also been completely updated to a new "responsive" format that works on any device.

"Our eight websites all work in unison to provide the dental profession with a variety of different types of information and a growing range of services," Mr Allbeury said. "The Dental Community website is the centrepiece of all of these as it allows the profession to login, manage their own information and access the services we offer. Most of the work we have been doing on the Dental Community requires you to login to use it, however, we have finally revamped the public face of the site and it is now in a responsive format that adapts to any device."

Logging your CPD

The CPD Education Centre within the Dental Community has also now been expanded to integrate the new video streaming website, www.dentevents.tv, to allow CPD tracking and list incomplete videos. Any CPD accrued from events a clinician has registered for using Dentevents.com or through CPD Questionnaires or through videos watched on Dentevents.tv is automatically logged. And now, a new feature allows you to create CPD records for CPD accrued in other ways, allowing you to keep a record of all your CPD hours in one place.

Article Archive

The Dental Community Article Archive now boasts over 13,500 articles from current and past editions of Australasian Dental Practice, Oral Hygiene and eLABORATE magazines.

"The Archive is an amazing resource chronicling the last 32 years of the dental profession," Mr Allbeury said. "Whilst we continue to enrich the content itself, we have also now completely revamped the functionality of the Archive with a particular focus on making the content easily read on smartphones and tablets.

"As soon as we publish a magazine, the content is available online and can be easily read on screen. We have chosen a serif font in a larger than normal size to facilitate this further. You also still have the option of downloading a PDF of the article as it appeared in the magazine.

"The search features have also been enhanced to help you find what you're looking for more easily."

New easy sign-up feature

Signing up to the Dental Community can now be completed using the new "Sign In" feature on the website.
